Westbound Anyway

He treats every stop as temporary, writes home from places with coin laundry, and keeps moving before anyone can suggest a matching hamper.

  1. Washer Door

Slipped out during the heavy cycle with one strap already buckled.

  2. Service Road

Raised one frayed cuff and caught a produce truck west.

  3. Motel Ice

Slept behind the machine because it sounded almost familiar.

  4. Pacific Stop

Sent a beach photo to the matching sock left behind.

  5. Next Ride

Keeps the return address folded beneath the backpack flap.

No return cycle has been scheduled.
